Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy, Manish Sisodia, were huddled with embittered party leader Kumar Vishwas till late on Tuesday night after the rift in the Aam Aadmi Party appeared to widen.

In a damage control measure, Mr Kejriwal and Mr Sisodia joned senior leaders Sanjay Singh, Kapil Mishra and Ashutosh at Mr Vishwas's residence in the evening to sort out any differences. “Kumar is our old associate. He is a little angry now, but I am sure we will convince him,” Mr. Kejriwal said after the meeting.

From there, Mr Kejriwal and Mr Sisodia, along with Mr Vishwas and the other leaders, went to the CM's residence at 6-Flagstaff Road, where the meeting continued till late at night.

The emergency meetings were held following a combative Mr Vishwas, defying the party's gag order, appeared to hit out at the leadership at a press conference.

No action

Mr Vishwas said he was upset that no action was taken against Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan for levelling grave allegations against him. He said he would take some “big decision” by Tuesday evening, but refused to give details.

On Sunday, Mr Khan had alleged that Mr Vishwas had taken money from the BJP to wean away MLAs from the AAP. He also claimed the BJP was offering ₹30crore to each MLA joining them.

Mr. Vishwas rubbished the allegations and dismissed speculation that he was plotting to overthrow Mr Kejriwal as the AAP convenor.
