A group of kanwariyas vandalised a car, breaking its windows and windscreen, before managing to turn it over in west Delhi’s Moti Nagar on Tuesday evening. The incident was caught on camera.

The police said a PCR call was received around 5.30 p.m. about the violence. When the police reached the spot, the mob had fled. The car was found turned sideways near Moti Nagar metro station. Enquiry revealed that the car belonged to a police officer’s daughter who had allegedly brushed past a kanwariya.

The video shows the group breaking the car’s windscreen and the windows with sticks and turning it on the side before attacking it again while raising slogans. The woman returned to the spot later but refused to file a written complaint, the police said. The police, however, are taking cognisance of the incident and said they are registering a case under relevant sections.

The incident led to traffic jam on the stretch for a few hours.
