A juvenile has been apprehended in connection with the rape of a six-year-old girl inside a public convenience at Badarpur in South-East Delhi on April 26. The accused disclosed that he had watched a pornographic film before he sexually assaulted the girl.
“On Monday, the boy was produced before a Juvenile Justice Board after which he was sent to an observation home. During an interview, he disclosed that on the fateful day he watched pornography and then spotted the girl alone at the public convenience. He overpowered the victim and raped her,” said a police officer.
The accused is a school dropout and his father is a drunkard. “He is used to watching pornographic films,” the officer added.

The victim is presently recuperating at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences after she underwent a surgery for the injuries she had sustained in her private parts. She had also sustained injuries in the neck suggesting that an attempt had been made on her life. Angry locals had earlier staged a protest demanding immediate arrest of the perpetrator.
The girl lives in an area that does not have an assured water supply. On the afternoon of April 26, she had gone to take a bath at the public convenience when she was raped.
In another case, a seven-year-old girl was raped by a rickshaw-puller at Khyala in West Delhi on Sunday. The accused was overpowered and beaten up by locals before being handed over to the police. The girl was playing outside her house when the accused, Shambhu Shah (35), lured her into his room on some pretext and then raped her. “Area residents roughed up the accused before we arrested him under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act,” said an officer.
