Six persons were arrested on Tuesday from Shahdara’s Farsh Bazar after the Delhi Police busted an Indian Premier League (IPL) gambling racket. The police have recovered a record of transactions worth ₹1 crore, two laptops, 22 mobile phones and two LED televisions.
Tip-off received
During patrolling, the police received information that some people were allegedly betting online in east Delhi’s Vishwas Nagar while the Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab match was under way. Acting on the tip-off, a team raided the house where the accused were gambling and arrested them on the spot.

Accused booked
Manmohan Krishan alias Chunnu (38), Sushil Pal (32), Manish Kumar (28), Naveen Kumar (28), Mukesh Kumra (56) and Keshav (28) have been booked under Section 3-4/9/55 of the Gambling Act.
According to the police, the house belonged to Manmohan. They added that Manish and Naveen had helped him set up the online gambling operation, while Mukesh and Keshav had come to place bets.

“All of them confessed to having placed bets,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Nupur Prasad.
In another incident, four persons were arrested on Wednesday from east Delhi’s Vivek Vihar for gambling. The police caught them red-handed and recovered ₹44,740 in cash.
