On surprise visit following complaints

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday ordered the installation of CCTV cameras in all Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics (AAMCs) after inspecting one such clinic in Kondli following complaints of lack of some medicines and infrastructure deficiencies.

In a statement, the Chief Minister’s Office said the surprise inspection by Mr. Kejriwal, Health Minister Satyendar Jain, Kondli MLA Manoj Kumar and officials of the Health Department and Public Works Department was done after he received complaints during the daily Janta Samvad sessions at his residence.

Medicine availability

The statement added that upon checking the medicine availability registers and finding some medicines unavailable, the Chief Minister pulled up the Health Department officials.

He also found that diagnostic tests were not being done at the site as they are supposed to be. Mr. Kejriwal also pulled up the PWD officials for the air-conditioning not working and some problem with the clinic’s main door.

After the visit, Mr. Kejriwal called a meeting with the Minister and the Secretaries of the Departments concerned.

The statement said Mr. Kejriwal told the Health Department to ensure that all medicines are available and tests conducted at the clinic. He also told the PWD to install air-conditioning and repair the main door.

“Decision was also taken in the meeting to install CCTV cameras inside the clinics to monitor the upkeep of the centre and proper functioning,” the statement said. A government source said, complaints of thefts from the AAMCs have been received, leading to the need for monitoring.
