Was depressed after Geetika’s suicide, says her suicide note

The police have initiated inquest proceedings into the death of 52-year-old Anuradha Sharma, the mother of former MDLR Airlines airhostess Geetika Sharma, who was found hanging at her residence in Ashok Vihar here on Friday.

On Sunday evening, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) P. Karunakaran himself visited the Sharma residence to make enquiries. However, the police remained tight-lipped over the revelations made by the family members.

While the police have in their possession the suicide note left behind by Ms. Sharma, they are recording statements of her husband and son to prepare their case. She was cremated on Saturday after the body was handed over to the family following a post-mortem at Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital.

Ms. Sharma allegedly hanged herself in her house in the same room where her daughter had committed suicide in the same manner last August.

In the suicide note, she disclosed that she was depressed after her daughter’s death for which she held former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda and his close aide Aruna Chadha responsible.

Geetika had also accused Mr. Kanda and Ms. Chadha of ruining herself and attempting to harm her family members.

The police have registered another case of abetment to suicide against the former Haryana minister and his close aide on the basis of Ms. Sharma’s suicide note and circumstantial evidence.
