A family spending the night at the Old Delhi railway station was left in shock after their infant was allegedly kidnapped by a man whom they had met at the station.
On Tuesday, 25-year-old Rehmatullaha, his wife Sabina and two sons deboarded Saheed Express train at the Old Delhi railway station.
They were coming from their village in Madhubani district of Bihar. Rehmatullaha works as a labourer at a glove manufacturing unit in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan.

“The train was scheduled to arrive in Delhi at 1 p.m. but it was nearly nine hours late and reached the station at 10 p.m. As I was travelling with my family, I decided to spend the night at the railway station and takean early morning bus to Bhiwadi,” said Rehmatullaha.
His wife, eight-month-old son Ami Ullha and three-year-old son, were sleeping on the floor on the main hall of the railway station.
At 1.30 a.m., Rehmatullaha woke up to get some tea.

“As I was leaving to buy a cup of tea, a man sleeping beside us gave me ₹10 and requested me to get a cup of tea for him. I agreed and went to a nearby tea stall. When I returned, I found Ami missing and the man too was nowhere to be seen,” he said.
Rehmatullaha and his wife tried to locate the child and the man but to no avail.
They then went to the police. The police said the entire staff of the Old Delhi railway police station was pressed into service to trace the child. Over 30 police personnel, armed with a picture of the child, fanned out in the area to trace the victim.

“We have checked CCTV footage at the railway station and its premises. One of the CCTVs captured the man walking away with the child. We have sent the suspect’s picture to police teams,” said a senior police officer.
The officer added that they have questioned vendors, rickshaw pullers, station staff and parking vendors to identify the suspect.
“A case of kidnapping has been registered. We have declared a reward for any information regarding the suspect or the child,” added the officer.
