On Friday evening, two of the batchmates had gone to a mall, while the third was away in his village. When the two batchmates returned around 9 p.m., they found the door locked. They called the deceased who did not answer. “They arranged a ladder from their neighbours and climbed up from the rear side of the house. When they finally went inside, they found him hanging,” the officer said. The two then rushed him to a hospital where he was declared dead, police said.

When questioned, the batchmates told the police that their friend was upset for not being able to clear competitive examinations.

The officer further said that the family of the deceased has been informed about his death. Inquest proceedings have been initiated, he said.
