Helipads set up for e-way opening

Completed in two years, it will help decongest Delhi traffic

PM will open the road from the district sports stadium at Baghpat in UP

Helipads have been set up on Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal (KGP) Expressway or the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, ahead of Sunday’s inauguration ceremony, a spokesman said in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

Record time

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the road from the district sports stadium at Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh. KGP Expressway, which is expected to relieve Delhi of traffic congestion, was completed in a record time of two years at a cost of ₹5,763 crore. Rainwater harvesting systems have been installed at every 500 metre on each side of the road.

The spokesman said Mr. Modi will inaugurate the Digital Art Gallery of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at the toll plaza at Jakhauli village in Sonipat before the KGP Expressway.

The gallery will showcase the story of the expressway’s construction.

There are 18 displays in the gallery.

It will also have a group picture of the whole team involved in the construction of the expressway with Mr. Modi, the spokesman said.
