The Millennium City Gurgaon would soon get round-the-clock power supply on the pattern of world-class cities with the help of a sophisticated technology under a new Rs.7,000-crore scheme. A meeting was recently held between Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy, Piyush Goyal in this regard at New Delhi.
The government has taken a step forward to make Gurgaon generator and diesel-free and the outcome would be visible over the next one year.
During the meeting, several senior Central and State Governments officials held discussions regarding technical and financial aspects of making round-the-clock power supply available to Gurgaon, besides other topics.

Mr. Goyal assured the Chief Minister that the Central Government would provide all possible help to the Haryana Government for a ‘smart beginning’ for the Smart City Gurgaon.
The Chief Minister said that Gurgaon was amongst the most prominent cities of not just the State, but of the whole country. He added that the State Government has envisioned that uninterrupted power supply would be provided to the city. The Power Minister discussed this matter with the power officials as well.
Mr. Khattar said that in the first phase of this Rs.7,000-crore policy, the work of modern distribution system would be done to ensure 24-hour power supply to Sectors 1-57 of Gurgaon.

Interacting with media persons after the meeting, Mr. Goyal said that Haryana had inherited losses amounting to Rs 30,000 crore through the power companies. Strict decisions have been by the Chief Minister to mitigate these losses through the medium of discom solution and prevent losses in future.
