In order to control rising price of onions, the Delhi government on Monday started selling the vegetable at Rs.40 per kg through Fair Price Shops (FPS) and mobile shops in the Capital.

According to the government, it has identified 280 FPS outlets in the city and is also selling onions through mobile shops where FPS is not close to residential locations.

“The prices, which had shot up exorbitantly in the recent past, are being monitored by the government constantly and the government will take all steps as and when required to keep a check on the prices,” said a senior government official.
