Girls trump boys in ISC exams

More girls than boys cleared the Class XII ISC (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations) this year and students from the Southern part of India fared better than their Northern counterparts in the results that were announced here on Saturday.

The foreign students had a better pass percentage than their Indian counterparts.

In all, 68,723 candidates took the examination. Out of this, 37,558 or 54.65 per cent were boys. Out of this, around 94.18 per cent of the boys actually cleared the exams.

There were 31,165 girls who took the exam and out of this, 96.58 per cent passed.

The total pass percentage of the ISC was 95.27 per cent, which is 0.12 per cent more than last year.

The examination is conducted in 48 written subjects of which 14 are conducted in the Indian languages and five in foreign languages.
