‘Get eyes of molestation accused tested’

The accused told the Delhi court that his vision has been troubling him for the past 10 years and that the complaint was made with the sole intention of grabbing his property.

Accused of molesting his daughter-in-law, a 65-year-old man walked into the courtroom with the help of his wife. He appeared to be visually impaired.

Looking at the scene, Metropolitan Magistrate Ekta Gauba directed the police to get his eyes tested to see if he was actually unable to see or was just pretending. The court also ordered that a notice be issued to the Investigating Officer to appear in person for giving clarification after getting the eye-sight of the accused tested.

The accused told the court that his vision has been troubling him for the past 10 years and that the complaint was made with the sole intention of grabbing his property. It was then that the court asked the police to verify his claim.

His daughter-in-law has accused him of molestation and sexual assault with the intention to outrage her modesty. The complainant is married to the son from the first marriage of the accused.

She said she was alone at home when the accused behaved indecently with her. She stated in her complaint that the accused behaved that way even with his daughters.
