Four members of a Haryana family were killed and five injured when the car in which they were travelling hit a tree in Outer Delhi’s Kanjhawala on Monday morning.
Among the deceased are a seven-year-old boy and a woman. All the injured are critical; they are now battling for life at the surgical intensive care unit of a private hospital in North-West Delhi.
According to the police, the person driving the vehicle dozed off, which resulted in the fatal accident. They also suspect that the vehicle was being driven at a very high speed.

The accident took place around 7.20 a.m. on Monday when two brothers Sanjay (35) and Sonu (30) with their families were returning to their home in Haryana’s Kharkhoda village home from Gurgaon.
Bittoo, a distant relative of the family, said the nine occupants of the car driven by Sanjay had gone to a temple in the NCR town.
“When they reached Tatesar village in Kanjhawala, which is close to the Delhi-Haryana border, their white-coloured Swift Dzire car hit a roadside tree seriously injuring the family members,” said a senior police officer.

All of them were rushed to hospital, where the two brothers and Sanjay’s wife Sangeeta (33) were declared brought dead. A child Abhishek (7) also died in the accident. The police have not been to establish how he was related to the others till late evening.
The injured – Sonu’s wife Sarita and daughter Nithi (2) and Sanjay’s children Chetna (15), Anurag (14) and Aniket (13) – were first taken to a government hospital and later shifted to Fortis in Shalimar Bagh.
A case under Sections 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash and negligent driving) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered.
Bittoo added that the brothers had bought the car nearly a month ago and it was the first time that the whole family had gone out on an outing in it.
