Four minors apprehended for desecrating idols in Ghaziabad

Police officers and PAC teams deployed to maintain law and order in the area; FIR lodged in the case

Four boys aged between 8 and 12 have been apprehended and sent to an observation home for allegedly desecrating idols on Friday evening in Ghaziabad’s Kavi Nagar, the police said on Saturday.

The boys were playing when they broke a glass panel and damaged an idol on Friday, they said. A woman spotted them following which the locals started beating the minors. Tension prevailed in the village after over 300 villagers gathered around the police station, demanding the minors’ arrest. Police officers and PAC teams have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order. Ghaziabad SP Shlok Kumar said based on one Vinod’s complaint, an FIR has been lodged. CCTV footage from the area are being obtained for further investigation, the police said.
