Five-year-old girl raped

Two incidents of rape and a case of sodomy have been reported from different parts of the Capital over the past two days.

In the first case, a five-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her sister’s tutor in Malviya Nagar here two days ago. The accused, 19-year-old Himanshu, lives a few blocks away from the victim’s house.

Himanshu was known to the girl’s family as he provided private tuitions to the victim’s elder sister, said the police. On Tuesday afternoon, the victim along with her sister Pinky (name changed) had gone to Himanshu’s house. A little later Himanshu sent Pinky back to her home on some pretext. After Pinky left, he allegedly raped her younger sister.

The victim returned and narrated the incident to her parents who reported the matter to the police. After a medical examination confirmed rape, a case was registered.

However, when the police went to Himanshu’s house to arrest him he was not present there. After a brief hunt the accused was arrested on Wednesday, said the police.

In Kanjhawala, a case of rape and abduction was registered and a 16-year-old was apprehended on Wednesday after a medical examination confirmed that he established physical relationship with a 13-year-old girl who had eloped with him.

“On March 16, the boy and the girl went missing after which their worried parents filed a complaint with the police. After three days of search, both were found hiding in the same area,” said a senior police officer.

The accused, who dropped out of school after studying till class V and does odd jobs to sustain himself, purportedly told the police that he had convinced the girl to go along with him on the pretext of marriage.

In another incident, a seven-year-old was allegedly sodomised by his neighbour, who too is a minor, on Wednesday night. The accused was apprehended and sent to a juvenile home, said the police.
