FIR registered based on police officers’ complaint

No case registered on scribe’s complaint yet

The Delhi Police, on late Friday night, registered a First Information Report (FIR) based on a complaint by police officers against students protesting during Jawaharlal Nehru University’s rally. However, no FIR was registered on the complaint submitted by a journalist alleging molestation by a police officer during the protest.

Delhi Police Public Relations Officer Madhur Verma said that 41 officers were injured including four who suffered severe injuries.

“An inspector has suffered a fracture, another has suffered a head injury. Two constables including a woman have bite marks on their arms,” he said.

The FIR was registered under sections of rioting, assault of public servant under the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of Prevention of Damage To Public Property Act.

Under inquiry

When questioned why an FIR hasn’t been registered in the alleged molestation incident of a journalist, Delhi Police spokesperson Dependra Pathak said, “The matter is under inquiry by vigilance department.

All the videos of the incident are being examined to ascertain facts,” he said.
