Starting the final arguments in the 2014 Danish woman gang-rape case, the prosecution on Wednesday submitted before a Delhi court that it had brought sufficient evidence on record against the six accused for their conviction.
Submitting his arguments before Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja, Special Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava, said that the victim had on her own gone to the police and recorded her statement regarding the assault on her.
The manager of the hotel where she was staying at that time also recorded his evidence in favour of the prosecution. The manager described the victim’s conditions when she had left the hotel as well as when she came back after being assaulted.

Though the Delhi Police had requested her for a medical examination, she went back to her country as she had booked her flight ticket in advance. However, it was conducted at Copenhagen by the police there, Mr. Srivastava submitted.
It is also a rarest of rare rape case as there is also an eye-witness to the incident. A security guard had seen the accused persons assault the victim from a five feet distance. He also identified them in the court, the prosecutor said. Two eye-witnesses of the Danish police had also supported the prosecution in their evidence. Mr. Srivastava will continue his arguments on May 6. The six accused are Mahendra alias Ganja, Mohd Raja, Raju, Arjun, Raju Chakk and Shyam Lal. All of them are in judicial custody.
The Delhi Police have charged the accused persons with robbing and gang-raping the 52-year-old woman at knife point after dragging her to a deserted place near the Divisional Railway Officers’ Club, which is located about a few hundred meters from the New Delhi Railway station. The woman had come to India as a tourist.
