The Arvind Kejriwal Cabinet on Friday cleared the compensation amount and the formula for distribution to farmers who suffered crop loss due to the unseasonal rains early this year.
The State government would start distribution of compensation from May 8 onwards. The compensation for farmers suffering from crop loss due to unseasonal rains has been divided into two slabs of Rs. 20,000 per acre and Rs. 14,000 per acre, depending on the percentage of crop loss.
“It has been decided that based on official assessment, farmers who suffered crop loss in the excess of 70 per cent will be paid Rs. 20,000 per acre. In cases where the crop loss will be assessed below 70 per cent, the farmers will get a minimum compensation of Rs. 14,000 per acre,” a statement from the CM office said.

It has also been decided that any dispute arising between government officials and farmers on the quantum of crop loss will be resolved in the respective gram Sabha nearest to the land of affected farmers.
The compensation scheme is for farmers and corporate entities owning land in Delhi will not get the benefit of this scheme, an official said.
