Four persons, including a young woman, have been arrested for allegedly supplying fake professional education certificates and mark-sheets while running a management institute at Netaji Subhas Place here. Fake certificates and mark-sheets were purportedly seized from them.
The case was registered on the complaint of Anant Mohan Kaushik, a freelance journalist with a TV news channel who conducted a sting operation on Wednesday and unearthed the racket by obtaining fake MBA certificates and mark-sheets for the 2004-06 session from Jagannath Institute of Management and Technology that was set up in June 2011. He paid Rs.5,000 in advance for the documents.
The police subsequently arrested institute manager Sanjay Choudhary. During interrogation, he purportedly disclosed that Somya Samantra and Bhanu were the directors of the institute. Sanjay came in contact with Bhanu while working for an institute in Prashant Vihar in 2008. They joined another management institute in 2010, but soon Bhanu quit to set up his own institute along with Somya. Sanjay Choudhary, the third partner, had 30 per cent share in the profit.

When the institute failed to get enough enrolments, the accused started supplying forged certificates last December and charged Rs.20,000 per candidate. They would allegedly lure prospective candidates through Somya, who posed as MBBS intern. The mark-sheets were allegedly printed by engineering graduate Naveen Gupta.
