The police said that the two were intercepted during foot patrolling after their behaviour was found suspicious. When the officers asked them to stop their car, they allegedly tried to speed away. However, the police managed to catch them after they got stuck in a traffic jam near Tagore Garden.

“They were searched. A countrymade pistol along with three live cartridges, and a kinfe were seized from their possession,” Ms. Bhardwaj said, adding that car, in which they were travelling, was also seized.

During interrogation, the accused told police that they are active members of the Saddam Gauri gang and used to threaten people on his behalf to extort money. Those who indulged in gambling were mainly their targets. “In order to create a terror, Pankaj used to send them a video, in which he was seen firing in Uttam Nagar,” Ms. Bhardwaj said.
