: In some relief for residents of the National Capital Region employed in Delhi, the AAP government on Tuesday said that a fleet of at least a hundred buses will exclusively cater to their commuting needs during the 15-day trial of the odd-even vehicle rationing scheme.
At a meeting presided over by Transport Minister Gopal Rai and nodal anti-pollution and Health Minister Satyendra Jain, it was decided that a fleet of express buses would operate from Noida and Gurgaon to Delhi so that commuters, especially women, could utilise bus transport.
The Delhi Transport Corporation has promised to run at least 100 such buses, in addition to procuring its target of operating at least 3,000 extra buses during the 15-day trial of the scheme beginning January 1.

The DTC said it would ensure deployment of a marshall aboard all buses culled from city schools, with a view to enhancing the safety of female commuters, and also undertake maintenance operations during the night and on Sundays to ensure availability of buses between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled to preside over an oath taking ceremony for Civil Defence volunteers at the Chhatrasal Stadium in north Delhi on Wednesday .
The volunteers would, on Thursday, be required to report to specific locations of their deployment to participate in a dry run to assess any lacunae in deployment if observed, said a government official.

Simultaneously, The Transport Department will deploy 66 enforcement teams with particular emphasis on ISBTs, railway stations, hospitals and markets to check the refusal, overcharging and misbehaviour by auto drivers in addition to making announcements at auto stands to sensitise auto drivers to follow the rules and avoid refusing potential fares.
