Over 100 artworks by 46 masters — including F.N. Souza, Jehangir Sabavala, M.F.Husain, Manjit Bawa, J. Swaminathan and S.H. Raza — will go on sale as part of the “Art Exhibit 2016: Masters of Modern Art” exhibition being organised by the Global Art Hub.
The three-day event opened with an exclusive display on Friday evening. Saturday has in store a programme that will delve into issues like ‘Authentication and Art Law’ and a presentation by art restorer Priya Khanna.
The exhibition of the carefully curated selection of works, which have been sourced from leading art galleries and private collectors, is estimated to make sales worth Rs. 20 crore. It has been organised in a space conceptualized by designer Varun Bahl at Dalmia House on Akbar Road — the iconic Lutyens’ Delhi residence of one of the Capital’s oldest industrialist families.

The event has been spearheaded by Nakul Dev Chawla, founder and CEO of Global Art Hub, and will present a selection from the best art galleries in an integrated exhibition format, as opposed to presenting individual gallery booths.
Participating galleries in the exhibition include Vadehra Art Gallery, Gallery Espace, Dhoomimal Gallery, Chawla Art Gallery and the Great Banyan Art, among others.
Leading the sale is ‘Caverns Measureless to Man II’ by Jehangir Sabavala, which has been sourced from a private collection and is estimated at Rs. 2- 2.5 crore, while S.H. Raza’s ‘Bhoomi’ has been estimated between Rs. 1.25 -1.50 crore.

Apart from the exhibition, the artworks will also be available online for collectors around the world.
