Eight fresh cases of cheating and forgery were registered on Tuesday against students who allegedly obtained admission at Delhi University's Ramjas College on fake documents. While 15 such cases have been registered so far, more students are suspected to have submitted forged papers to get admission to the North Campus college.
Confirming that fresh cases were being registered at the Maurice Nagar police station, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Delhi) I. B Rani said the documents submitted by the college authorities were being examined. “The papers were not complete in some cases,” she said. The police have sought the required documents from the college officials.
Preliminary findings, and also the fact that separate cases are being registered against individuals, have suggested that most students who allegedly submitted fake mark-sheets had probably acted independently. However, the police are probing all possible angles to find out if any organised network had a role to play.

The college authorities have so far identified 24 first year and five second year students who had allegedly submitted forged documents to secure admission. A majority of the students found to have resorted to cheating and forgery are reportedly from the commerce stream. An internal probe in the college is under way to ascertain if more students had employed a similar modus operandi.
While one of the accused students was booked on October 18, another case was registered against a first year B.Com (Honours) student on Monday. The accused, a resident of Sector 14 of Rohini, had used forged mark-sheet of Class XII to get admission in the college. The college authorities have submitted his admission form, forged mark-sheet and provisional certificate. The student had submitted the documents in June.
