E-way pipeline rupture causes waterlogging

Vehicles suffer breakdown; traffic snarls hit city roads that stretch to DND Flyway

It’s not monsoon: A pipeline ruptured during widening of the NH-24, leading to waterlogging near Sarai Kale Khan in the Capital on Thursday. The Delhi Jal Board said the pipe will be repaired by Friday.

A pipeline ruptured during the construction work of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway led to waterlogging near Sarai Kale Khan on Thursday. This resulted in massive traffic snarls on the Outer Ring Road.

Knee-deep water

Traffic jam stretched till the DND Flyway as several goods vehicles broke down due to knee-deep water. Traffic officials said a pipeline had ruptured during the construction work on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

Additional traffic policemen were deployed to move affected vehicles. Traffic snarls began around noon when a large volume of water started spilling onto the carriageway going towards ITO near Millennium Park.
