DUSU elections: ABVP bags three key posts

Winners: Akshit Dhaiya, Shivangi Karwal and Pradeep Tanwar

The Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has won three of the four posts in the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) panel, counting for which ended on Friday afternoon. The NSUI won one post.

From the ABVP, Akshit Dhaiya, won the post of President of DUSU by a thumping margin of 10,646 compared to the runner up. The post of Vice-president was won by Pradeep Tanwar, who got 19,858 votes. And the post of Joint Secretary was bagged by Shivangi Karwal by 17,234 votes.

While the NSUI came in second in the rest of the posts, its candidate Ashish Lamba bagged the General Secretary post by a slim margin of 2053 votes. Left Group, AISA managed to come in third in all four posts narrowliy getting more votes than NOTA.

The elections which took place under heavy security saw a voter turnout of only 40%, less than about 44% recorded last year.
