Dust storm hits Capital, brings relief

A dust storm sweeps across the Capital on Tuesday night.

A dust storm hit the Capital around 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday cooling the city down, with some parts experiencing a drizzle as well.

A squall with wind speeds between 50-70 kmph was expected to blow over the city between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. due to which evening schools had been closed and the Delhi government had put all civic and emergency relief agencies on standby.

The MeT Department said that a dust storm entered the city around 8.30 p.m. and was mainly active over the Palam area before moving towards the south-east part of the city.

Forecast for Wednesday

The maximum temperature in the city settled at 34.7 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal, while the minimum settled at 22 degrees Celsius.

4 hurt in wall collapse

Three children and a woman were injured when the parapet of a building collapsed in south-east Delhi’s Badarpur on Tuesday night, a Delhi Fire Service official said.

A call was received at 9.40 p.m. and the injured persons were rushed to a hospital, the official said.
