Two persons, including a woman, have been arrested from West Bengal for allegedly trafficking girls from Delhi and pushing them into working at dance bars. The accused used to lure them by promising them jobs.
Subir Das (21) and Simran (21) (name changed) were arrested from Siliguri, the police said. According to the police, a resident of Inderpuri lodged a complaint on October 18 against Simran claiming that she approached his 20-year-old daughter and 21-year-old niece and offered them a job to welcome guests at a wedding in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
“The girls left on October 23. They were taken to West Bengal where they were forced to work as bar dancers. The girls managed to call the family and inform them after which they approached the police,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (west) Vijay Kumar.

Girls back in Delhi
A team left for Siliguri where the girls were taken. Mr Kumar said that the team got leads from locals and raided Subir’s rented accommodation. “Both the girls were rescued and brought to Delhi” he said. When the girls were counselled, they told the police that Simran took them to Siliguri and handed them over to Subir. He pushed them into working at his dance bar. “There ID proof were taken away to make sure they didn’t leave,” said Mr Kumar.
