Delhi University authorities, anticipating hooliganism in the name of Holi, have made extensive security arrangements to combat the side-effects of the festival of colours. The arrangements have been made in coordination with the law and order authorities from outside as well as the university security.
The Delhi Transport Corporation staff have been instructed to take buses to the nearest police station if there is any hooliganism aboard the bus or else drive with their lights switched on so that the nearest PCR van can intercept the vehicle.
“Anyone who is found indulging in indiscipline and harassment of any kind would be subjected to strict disciplinary action under the university ordinances as well as under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act,” said DU Registrar Alka Sharma, before explaining that the Metro authorities as well as the CISF personnel had been asked to be vigilant for any mischief-makers around the Vishwavidyalaya metro station.

Also, the university is not allowing anyone to play Holi in any of its institutions. Entry to any of its colleges, departments as well as hostels and other halls will have to be through identity cards. Principals, heads of departments and provosts in halls and hostels have been asked to be available in the office to take care of any untoward incidents.
Special checks on entry of guests into hostels will be made to prevent the entry of outsiders into the hostel. And the colleges and departments as well as hostels have been told to form special committees of students, karamcharis and teachers. Extra security will be deployed in front of college gates.

Women police officers have been deployed in strategic locations in the university as well as around colleges. Mobile patrol squads of policemen have also been deployed.
A control room managed jointly by the university and Delhi Police is functioning in the North Campus at the Proctor’s office. In the South Campus, the Deputy Dean’s office will man the joint control room.
