The Delhi Jal Board on Monday said it would move High Court over the release of pollutants by Haryana into the Yamuna, which has been affecting water supply in the Capital since January 25.

In a statement, the DJB said Delhiites continue to “suffer” repeatedly as raw water from Haryana sees spikes in ammonia levels several times a year.

Since January 25, the ammonia level has been high in the Yamuna, leading to a 30% reduction in water treatment.

The level of ammonia at Wazirabad has been almost double the amount that can be treated, the DJB will inform the court, the statement said. The pollution in the Yamuna was due to the Haryana government’s inability to stop pollution, the DJB said.
