Development works to start in 40 more illegal colonies

The Delhi Government has started the process of regularisation of 40 more unauthorised colonies and will start development works shortly, said Urban Development and Revenue Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely here on Monday. The order was tabled by him in the Assembly and this takes to 131 the total number of unauthorised colonies in which work has been initiated this year.

Incidentally, these 131 unauthorised colonies are those which could not be regularised earlier as some part of them comprise land belonging to the Forest Department, Delhi Ridge or the Archaeological Survey of India.

The earlier order for commencing development work in 91 unauthorised colonies had been issued on January 17. “With the 40 new colonies, the government has now cleared the path for undertaking development works in 1,026 unauthorised colonies out of the 1,218 unauthorised colonies that were issued provisional regularisation certificates in the year 2008,” said Mr. Lovely.

Colony wise records too will be changed within one and a half months on ‘

khasra ’ basis by the Revenue Department, he said. “The Revenue Department has also been empowered to de-notify private land which would allow people residing on such land in unauthorised colonies to get sale of property registered as per our earlier order,” he said.
