A day after Delhi’s official tagline was launched by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, the Bharatiya Janata Party mocked the move citing various instances of crimes against women and girl children saying it should be renamed ‘Balatkar Dilli’ rather than ‘Dildaar Dilli’.

BJP Delhi president Vijay Goel on Friday said the Capital has become unsafe for women during the past 14 years of Congress rule and women do not feel safe in the city. “It has become very unsafe for women and girl children living in the Capital. The way in which a five-year-old girl was kidnapped in East Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar and raped by her neighbour and the negligent attitude of the police in registering the case and also in trying to suppress it is very much condemnable,” he said.

He also referred to two other instances of rape in South Delhi where three men gang raped a 19-year-old woman of Nepali origin and abandoned her near Moti Bagh and in Najafgarh area where a two-and a half-year old girl was raped. “Every two hours there is a case of a molestation or rape in the Capital. How can you call it ‘Dildaar’? Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit selected and launched the tagline ‘Dildaar Dilli’ but I say it is “Balatkar Dilli”.
