It rained almost all day in the Capital on Friday, allowing temperatures to remain well below normal but also adding to the spate of water-logging and fallen trees. The city received about 9.6 mm of rain by 8-30 a.m. and by evening 5-30 p.m. the rain gauges had recorded another 13.5 mm.

The maximum temperature was a pleasant 30.7 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal, and the minimum was 25.5 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal for this time of the year. Humidity levels oscillated between a maximum of 100 per cent and a minimum of 84 per cent.

Although the weatherman did not forecast a repeat of Friday, he said the weekend would also be wet. “On Saturday, the sky will be cloudy and one or two spells of rain and thundershowers will occur,” said the India Metrological Department officer on duty, warning that one or two spells of rain would be especially heavy in some areas.

The weather will continue to stay wet and pleasantly humid throughout this week with temperatures oscillating between a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25 degrees Celsius.

There will also be rain, but the weatherman said that rain is often unpredictable and might just suddenly stop.
