The Delhi government will issue new COVID-19 guidelines for schools in view of the slight rise in cases in the city. Announcing this on Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said a few positive cases have been reported from schools too, but there is no need to panic and the numbers are not alarming.

“In Delhi, overall COVID cases have slightly increased, but there is no rise in hospitalisation. We have to live with COVID. There is no need to worry. We are monitoring the situation,” he said at a press conference.
The Deputy Chief Minister has instructed officers of the education department, a portfolio he also holds, to issue new guidelines for schools by Friday.
The COVID-19 situation in Delhi is showing a slight uptick. On April 7, the number of new cases was 176 and the test positivity rate (TPR) was 1.68%. Four days later, the number of new cases was 137 but the TPR had increased to 2.7%. On Thursday, with an increase in the number of tests, 325 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the city and the TPR was 2.39%.
Earlier this month, the Delhi government had done away with fines for not wearing masks in public places.
