Delhi gets excellence award

Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal presented the excellence award for maximum deployment of ‘Concentrated Solar Thermal (CST) systems’ to the Delhi government on Friday.

Speaking to The Hindu , Delhi Principal Secretary (power) Sukesh Jain, who received the award said: “The award is for the solar water heating technology used at four locations. We had installed concentrated solar thermal systems at the Akshardham temple, the ITC Maurya, and two other locations. We plan to take this further to government buildings as well.”

Speaking about Delhi’s solar policy, Mr. Jain said it was ready and would be put up in the Cabinet meeting scheduled for next week. “Bringing out a solar policy for the city is the Delhi government’s top priority. Now that the odd-even drive is over, deliberations will happen and it shall be released next week,” he said.
