Delhi has several reasons to be proud and celebrate as 1,857 students from the city who took the Central Board of Secondary Education Class XII exams have scored over 95 per cent and 10,129 students have scored above 90 per cent. Besides, the national topper in the Commerce stream is also from the Capital.
Delhi also retained its second position in the region having the highest pass percentage with 86.78 per cent in which girls outshone boys by a pass percentage of 91.42 against the pass percentage of 82.44 for the boys.
Delhi’s Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan’s (KVS) and its government schools were also the leading performers in the country with the pass percentage of government schools at 88.6 per cent and the KVS’ pass percentage at 97.56. The Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) also improved significantly, inching up to the third position from their previous last position. This year the pass percentage is 97.06 against last year’s 91.20.

The independent schools performed well with a pass percentage of 91.83, the second best in the country and an improvement of over the 90 per cent they had last year. Private candidates continued to perform badly with a pass percentage of 43.9, the second lowest in the country.
Among the government schools, the Commerce topper was Ankit Saini who scored 97.4 per cent; the Science topper was Lalit Lakra who scored 96.2 per cent; and in the Humanities it was Diksha and Momina Sheikh who both scored 95.2 per cent.
However, a top score that Delhi cannot be proud of is the cheating department where Delhi emerged the top region to have the most incidents of cheating with 25 cases against 10 cases last year.

A total 258,998 students took the exam and around 1,546 schools and 622 exam centres were pressed into service for the exercise that went on from March 1 to April 17.
Around 8.20 per cent students were placed in compartment, a slight improvement from last years 9.66 per cent. But these students may find the going tough as from this year, the number of chances for clearing compartment has been reduced to three from five.
The first chance compartmental examination is scheduled for July 16, and regular candidates will have to send their requests through the head of their institution, who will then have to ensure that the list of compartmental candidates, along with fee, reaches the respective regional offices by June 21. Requests will be accepted up to June 29 with a late fee of Rs.10 per day.
The forms for verification of marks will be available on the Board’s website www.cbse.nic.in. For urgent verification, applications can be made online within five days from the declaration of result with a fee of Rs. 300 per subject. Otherwise, the offline applications have to be made within 21 days of result and the online applications from the sixth day of the result with a fee of Rs. 200.
