Decomposed body of doctor found in house

Flatmate had gone to his home in Goa

The decomposed body of a 30-year-old resident doctor of Safdarjung Hospital was found on Tuesday morning in his rented flat in south-east Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar, the police said.

A police team reached the spot after they received a PCR call at 9 a.m. from his flatmate regarding a foul smell coming from one of the rooms.

DCP (South-East) Chinmoy Biswal said a man was found lying dead on a mattress. It appears that he died two days ago. His family members have been informed, the police said.

The man and his friend, who is also a doctor, have been staying at the rented accommodation in Lajpat Nagar since May 2018. The flatmate had gone home in Goa on July 19 and returned at 2 a.m. on Tuesday.

“The flatmate unlocked the flat with a spare key and went to his room. On Tuesday morning, when domestic help came, she informed him about the foul smell coming from the next room. She said she could not enter the flat for the past two days as no one opened the main door,” the officer said, adding that no suicide note has been recovered. The deceased from U.P.’s Mughalsarai was pursuing PG in anesthesia from Safdarjung Hospital. The post-mortem will be conducted on Wednesday, the police said.
