: In a bid to provide greater understanding among people, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is coming up with interactive e-books. Aimed at simplifying complex policies for the layman, the authority will launch such interactive online books for some of the big projects which are envisaged to change the development model of the Capital.

According to DDA Vice- Chairperson, Balvinder Kumar, at first, five such e-books would be released by the end of this month. “We will release separate e-books on topics like the Land Pooling Policy, the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) model, Master Plan Delhi (MPD – 2021), rules pertaining to conversion of leasehold to freehold and on housing norms,” he said.

The urban housing agency on a daily basis receives hundreds of queries and complaints seeking clarifications regarding various policies, guidelines or projects. The books which will be available on the DDA website for free will have important information explained in easy language.

“Every transaction of DDA will be made transparent through this. Each rule or transaction rules would be explained with detailed examples for the better understanding of the public,” Mr Kumar added.

The ambitious Land Pooling Policy of the DDA has been cleared by the Delhi Lieutenant Governor and is currently with the Urban Development Ministry. Sources have indicated that the UD Ministry too has cleared the policy and a notification in this regard is expected any time.

With the ever-growing need of affordable housing in Delhi, the LPP in the Master Plan of Delhi (MPD) 2021 will result in development of about 24,000 hectares of land for accommodating additional 48 lakh population in the national Capital by the year 2021. The policy was approved by the Union Government on September 5, 2013 and will be applicable in the areas of South-West and North-West of the Delhi Government wherein the DDA will act as a facilitator for land development along with private companies under the PPP model.
