Crime Branch reunites seven missing kids with families

Seven more children, who were staying at various shelter homes after being found abandoned across the Capital, were reunited with their families under the “Operation Milap” initiative, the Crime Branch said on Wednesday.

Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), said among the children - all boys - were an eight-year-old, two 11-year-olds, a 12-year-old, 15-year-old, 16-year-old, and a 17-year-old.

“The drive has been launched to check details of children lodged across homes in Delhi so that matching their records with the available data of missing or kidnapped children can reveal details about their next of kin,” said Mr. Yadav.

“Several teams have been constituted in the Crime Branch and we have, so far, been able to reunite 84 children with their families,” Mr. Yadav said.

Police personnel across all the districts have also been directed to screen and document all the children residing in shelter homes, found on railway platforms, bus stands, roads and religious places.

Their photographs are taken by police officials who then undertake necessary documentation to ensure the reunification of such children with their next of kin, Mr. Yadav added.
