CM withdraws plea from HC

May 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday withdrew from the Delhi High Court his plea challenging the need to furnish a bail bond in relation to a defamation case filed by BJP leader Nitin Gadkari. The proceedings in the lower court, however, will continue.

Mr. Kejriwal had initially refused to furnish a bail bond and had gone to jail, following which he had furnished one.

A Bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Ashutosh Kumar on Thursday allowed the plea to be withdrawn after Mr. Kejriwal’s lawyer said that in the backdrop of the court’s earlier questions, he had decided not to pursue the matter anymore.
