Cleanliness measures at major health hubs

Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals: Cleanliness and impeccable hygiene can only be achieved by educating the hospital staff, patients and visitors. Restricted entry for attendants, vendors and unauthorised person in critical areas is observed strictly. All hospital staff are instructed to use hand wash and antiseptic rubs before approaching a patient, especially those who are critically ill, said senior consultant and orthopaedic and joint replacement surgeon Dr. Raju Vaishya

BLK Super Speciality Hospital: We follow the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene at the hospital. Our waste disposal system is on a par with global standards and those deployed to carry out the task are given special training. The housekeeping follows the protocols as set and monitored by infection control team, according to the Bio-Medical Waste Act. Special attention is given to areas such as operation theatres, pathology lab and cyberknife lab, said hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr. Sanjay Mehta

All India Institute of Medical Sciences: The hospital is trying to reduce in-patient and visitors’ exposure. High-risk zones are sanitised. We have a budget of Rs. 1 crore and we are hoping to use it to spruce up the country’s premiere medical institute. We have brought in a standardised protocol/checklist for hygiene control.

We are going super micro here and special attention is being paid to cleaning patient care area/room, bathrooms, floors, operation rooms and ambulances. The key result areas identified for the purpose include immediate external environment, hospital upkeep, hospital support services, infection control, waste management, hygiene promotion and feedback system, said AIIMS deputy director (administration) V.
