Teachers at the Tagore International School are gearing up to receive a special guest — Chinese President’s wife Peng Liyuan.
She will visit the school on Thursday morning and stay for a presentation and cultural programme. She will also address in Mandarin the teachers and students who have been chosen for the function.
“Our presentation will be based on the distance learning programmes that we carry out for students in China. Our teachers teach kathak and yoga to children in China through video conferences. And they learn Tai-chi and Calligraphy from the teachers there,” said Principal Madhulika Sen.

“Since we have security clearance for an audience of just 100 people, children studying Mandarin under the CBSE programme, the teachers and all the prefects will be present.” Ms. Sen said the school has a special connect with China, they have a Chinese teacher and since 2001 their students and teachers have been going to China for international science and technology fairs, art and culture fairs and many other exchanges. “The students and teachers are especially delighted because of this Chinese connect that we have. As of now, we have at least 200 of our students who have been to China.”
