Water supply to parts of north, central and south Delhi would return to normal by Wednesday morning, after four days of shortage due to the Chandrawal treatment plant being shut because of planned works, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) said on Tuesday.

The DJB’s Chandrawal water treatment plant had been closed completely so that new main pipelines laid at Azad Market Chowk and DCM Chowk could be connected.
The work was supposed to affect supply for 36 hours starting April 29 evening in Civil Lines; Hindu Rao Hospital and adjoining areas; Kamla Nagar; Shakti Nagar and adjoining areas; Karol Bagh; Paharganj; Old and New Rajendra Nagar; Patel Nagar (East and West); Baljeet Nagar; Inderpuri and adjoining areas; New Delhi Municipal Council areas; part of the cantonment and south Delhi
However, water supply remained affected for a little longer, with the Chandrawal treatment plant re-starting operations on Monday night.

24 hours
A senior Jal Board official said it would take about 24 hours after the plant started to restore supply to normal. By Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, the latest, the supply would be normal, added the official.
DJB chairperson Kapil Mishra said supply had been “restored” in areas affected by the plant’s shutdown.
