In an endeavour to promote young women artists in the city and give them a platform to share gallery space with more established women artists, the Sahitya Kala Parishad has organised an exhibition titled “Vama” at the Twin Art Gallery, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.
The exhibition hopes to encourage artistic expression that is a mirror of the times we live in.
The gallery has works by 32 artists that include veterans like Arpana Caur, Gogoi Saroj Pal, Madhvi Parekh, Mona Rai and Shobha Broota who join upcoming artists in the city to create a platform, seeing which students of art could dream of a career in contemporary art.

In an inspirational message to the participants, Chief Minister Arvind Kerjiwal said: “Women today are increasingly finding their voice in every field and we need to make sure that they are provided every possible opportunity to display their talent. I am sure this exhibition will also inspire many young women to take up their talents.”
He was happy that the exhibition not only highlights veteran artists but also provides much-needed encouragement to a lot of budding artists.
The exhibition showcases varied styles and individual interpretation of a variety of themes. Apart from paintings, there are a number of sculptures and installations as well that deal with life in the city.
