Following the Delhi High Court’s permission last week, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a probe report in the Patiala House district courts seeking closure of JNU student Najeeb Ahmed disappearance case.
The court is likely to take up the report for consideration on November 29. Najeeb has been missing since October 15, 2016.
While allowing the CBI plea to close the case, a Bench of Justices S. Muralidhar and Vinod Goel of the High Court had said that Najeeb’s mother could raise her grievances before the trial court after filing of the closure report.

Seeking permission of the High Court to close the case, the probe agency, which began the probe in May last year, had said that all aspects were looked into but it could not find any trace of an offence.
‘Not a fair probe’
Opposing the CBI’s argument, Najeeb’s mother, Fatima Nafees, had said that the CBI did not probe the case in a fair manner.

Najeeb had gone missing a day after a scuffle with some students allegedly belonging to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
The High Court had transferred the case to the CBI after the Delhi police remained clueless about his whereabouts seven months after he went missing.
