CBI arrests Saket SHO on graft charge

Matter pertains to 47 cases involving Unitech

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday arrested the Station House Officer (SHO) of Saket police station and an advocate, for allegedly receiving ₹2 lakh bribe to manage court-referred cases related to Unitech.

Among those named in the FIR are SHO Neeraj Kumar, advocate Neeraj Walia, Unitech’s Ramesh Chandra, Ajay Chandra, Upma Chandra, Seema Manga, Pradeep Kumar and another Delhi Police officer Sanjay Sharma, besides the company.

The matter pertains to 47 cases involving Unitech, which was referred by a Saket Court to the local police station for investigations.

The CBI alleges that the accused company and its functionaries had been making regular payments to the SHO to ensure a favourable outcome. Acting on a tip-off, the CBI officials laid a trap and arrested the SHO and the advocate.

SHO suspended

The SHO has been suspended , the Delhi Police stated, adding, “Action will be taken following the outcome of the enquiry. The force takes such matters seriously.”
