Five men were hit by an car in west Delhi’s Vikaspuri on Wednesday afternoon, the police said. The injured persons were rushed to different hospitals in west Delhi and they are all out of danger, said Vijay Kumar, DCP (west).
The injured persons were identified as Manoj Tyagi (47), Anil Kapoor (48), Raj Kumar (40), Sonu (19) and Jatin (46). A few of them were later referred to Mata Chanan Devi hospital and later discharged.
The officer said that Soham, a resident of Vikaspuri, was the driver of the car that hit two pedestrians, a vendor and rickshawpuller. The car, which was abandoned at the spot, has been seized. The police were unable to trace the accused as of Wednesday night, said the DCP.

“Since the offending driver has not been traced, we can’t say whether or not he was drunk at the time of the accident,” the DCP said.
The accident happened around 3.45 p.m. in front of Brotherhood Apartments in Vikaspuri’s H Block. Police sources said the car hit a cycle carrying gas cylinders before ramming the other victims.
“A gas cylinder happened to get trapped under the car because of which the driver couldn’t flee with the vehicle. The victims also got away without severe injuries because of the cylinder slowing the car down,” said an officer.

FIR registered
An FIR under Sections 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way) and 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC has been registered at the Vikaspuri police station and teams have been formed to nab the accused, said the official.
