A 40-year-old builder was shot at in Brahmpuri area of North-East Delhi on Monday evening. Interestingly, the victim did not realise that he had been shot till he walked some distance and noticed blood oozing out of his leg.

The police have not been able to find any leads into the case so far, as the shooting took place under mysterious circumstances.

A police officer investigating the case said a PCR call received around 5-30 p.m. reported about a man lying injured in the area market.

A police team which reached the spot found the victim, later identified as Mohammad Aslam, lying injured with a suspected bullet injury in his right hip. Aslam was rushed to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital where he is being currently treated.

According to a senior police officer, Aslam’s statement was recorded immediately after doctors declared that he was fit to talk. “We were surprised that he had no idea who shot him or when exactly he was shot. Aslam told us that he was walking back home when he saw blood oozing out of his hip. That’s when he sat by a shop and a local made a PCR call,” the senior police officer said.

According to him, the bullet seems to have been shot from a close range.
