July 31, 2013 01:22 pm | Updated 01:22 pm IST - NEW DELHI

Two days after he was killed in police firing while allegedly performing stunts at Windsor Place here, Karan Pandey was cremated on Tuesday.

Karan was sitting pillion of a motorcycle driven by his friend Punit Sharma at the time of the incident and the two allegedly were part of a group of bikers who besides performing stunts pelted stones at a police control room van. The bullet pierced Karan’s body and then hit Punit.

It is learnt that Karan’s post-mortem report has confirmed that the bullet had indeed left his body before injuring Punit.

A senior police officer said Punit was discharged from hospital on Tuesday and they have spoken to him about the incident. Punit so far has denied being a part of the bikers performing stunts and has purportedly told the police that he had come to the New Delhi area to have some snacks.

Another police source said they would access his call details and find the contact details of those he was in contact with. “We believe this could also lead us to other such bikers and also help us understand how they contact each other and organise themselves,” said the source.

Continuing with their drive to check such incidents, the Delhi Police checked 369 two-wheelers on Monday night and challaned 12 of them. The officer said the numbers might have fallen but they would have to be more vigilant during the weekends as more bikers come then.
