BJP leaders meet DU V-C

The Delhi BJP on Wednesday urged the Delhi University Vice-Chancellor to provide for 70% domicile reservations or offer 3-5% grace marks for students of Delhi-origin during the admission process.

BJP MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma and MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa apprised DU V-C Yogesh Tyagi of how Delhi-based students were at a “disadvantage.”

“Students from neighbouring States get seats in Delhi colleges because of the high percentage secured solely due to liberal marking,” said Mr. Sirsa, the newly elected Rajouri Garden MLA.

Mr. Sirsa said the “disadvantaged” students were then forced to shell out large amounts of money to seek admission in private universities. The BJP leaders also said that the V-C promised to arrange for a meeting with the university’s Admissions Committee.
